Anna J Peterson was the first cooking show radio personality in the United States, if not the world–unless new information of a non-government sponsored cooking show host on the radio before Feb 19, 1923 is found. Update: someone discovered she was first on the air in December, 1922 but I have not been about to confirm. Regardless, she was the first named commercial radio host with a cooking show, and to date she’s been skipped over for the status of “first cooking show on the radio” for others radio spokeswomen from circa 1924. Detroit had a 1922 cooking show, yet no specific host was named. [still worth celebrating!] Here’s a booklet found in Peterson’s 1925 cookbook, “Simplified Cooking” shown in a video.
