Potato Cake with Raisins.
One cup butter, two cups sugar, two cups flour, one cup mashed potatoes, on-half cup milk, one cup chopped walnuts, one cup seeded raisins, on cup chocolate, four eggs, one-third teaspoon cinnamon, one-third teaspoon cloves, one-third teaspoon nutmeg, two teaspoons baking powder. Spread dough in bread pan and bake in medium hot oven.

To Sterilize Milk.
Bring to a steady boil and hold it at that for forty minutes. By then the bacteria in the liquid will be deprived of the power of reproduction. It is a settled fact that milk be boiled a few minutes and set away in a corked bottle wrapped in flannel it will remain warm for hours, but the germs will survive the process and multiply rapidly.

Stewed Rabbit [sic] Plain.
Cut a pair of well cleaned rabbits into pieces and season well with salt and pepper, one tablespoonful of salt to a half tablespoonful of pepper. Put a large frying pan over the fire with a quarter pound of fat salt pork. Cut fine and fry until a golden brown. Add the rabbit pieces and a fine sliced onion and cook gently over a slow fire, stirring often. Sprinkle with a tablespoonful of flour, and a pint of boiling water, cover closely and simmer gently for two hours, or until the meat is very tender. Just before serving add the juice of half a lemon.
